GU Gathering 2009 Classes
Do you ever feel like sharing your experiences and/or skills with Gallaudet University community? Or, do you want to learn new skills from your faculty, staff or students? For example, Beverly Buchanan, Program Manager of Campus Life, is a recreational cyclist. She has ridden over 3,000 miles across America twice and did cycle from north Malaysia to Singapore. Her goal is to persuade other deaf cyclists to participate in bike riding across America and in the deaflympics especially with women. She was the one who organized the fundraising activity across the USA to raise funds for students from developing countries to gain an admission to Gallaudet with some funds. She decided to volunteer to demonstrate her skills on cycling with a short training and guided bike ride across Mt. Vernon trails and other DC trails thru our program, GU Gatherings.
GU Gatherings is to promote interaction among faculty, staff and students for the purpose of learning experiences at no cost to the participants. We are looking for other people to share their skills and lead a GU Gathering. Possible ideas of skills/talents to offer at GU Gatherings are Red Cross and First Aid, arts and crafts, and recreation such as yoga, weight training, and running. Or, you could give a short talk on various issues or lead book discussions. If you think you are the right person to share your skills and want to offer GU Gatherings, please contact Wendy Wiatrowski, Wendy.Wiatrowski@gallaudet.edu or stop by at our office at Hall Memorial Building, S141.
