Consumer, Family and Community Advocacy

Course Description

This weekend training session for deaf and hard of hearing individuals and parents of deaf and hard of hearing children, focuses on improving the quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing consumers and their families. The training focuses on advocacy, as a process, and the tenets of effective advocacy efforts at the local, state, and national levels.

Dates and Times: February 20 - 21, 2010 Saturday & Sunday 9 - 5 pm,

Location: Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, 143 W. Coulter Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144

Class Number: PST 615-EXT2 Consumer, Family and Community Advocacy Leadership (1 credit)

Tuition: $283.00 + $30.00 processing fee

Prerequisites: none

Instructor: Kevin Nolan, Jr.

Note: This training is intended for participants who use American Sign Language.

REFUND POLICY

Requests for refunds must be submitted to the University in writing and will be issued as follows:

Before the registration deadline: full refund of tuition minus a $50.00 administrative fee.

After the registration deadline: partial refund of tuition, minus a $50 administrative fee, as follows:

withdrawals after 1/29/10 - 50% tuition refundable
withdrawals by 2/5/10 - 25% tuition refundable
withdrawals after 2/5/10 - no refund of tuition

It is IMPERATIVE that your written request for refund is in the office of Gallaudet University by the deadline.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: January 29, 2010 - applications will continue to be accepted after this date as long as space is available. Please note that the refund policy deadlines remain in effect. The course is contingent on sufficient enrollment. You will receive a confirmation letter after 1/29/10. We recommend that you do not make travel arrangements before the course is confirmed.
