Gallaudet University’s Summer 2010 Programs for High School students are designed for youth ages 14-18 and offer a myriad of stimulating summer experiential and learning opportunities for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing high school students.

Our programs blend excitement, education, and enjoyment in a bilingual environment rich in cultural diversity—and we’re just minutes away from historic Washington, DC! In addition, our programs give students a chance to try out an academic field or area of interest. These programs provide great avenues to make new friends with shared interests. Interested students must complete a program application and a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better is required.

The Gallaudet University Hearing and Speech Center (HSC) is once again hosting Camp SHARP.  The program provides an intensive, language-rich, communication-accessible, and enjoyable environment for deaf and hard of hearing children to improve their spoken language skills. The children will have opportunities to develop and enhance their spoken English skills and have their sign language skills reinforced through child-centered,  play-based activities. Skill areas addressed include speech, listening, expressive and receptive language and literacy. The summer services are offered between June 21 and July 30, 2010. Limited space is available. Services and session availability are contingent upon the number of children enrolled.
